Grind Size
Grind size for medium roast coffees can be the most flexible out of all the roasts on the scale of light to dark. You could use a fine grind for espresso or pour over. A coarser grind would work nice for french press or drip. Medium roast is extremely versatile and really good a lot of different ways. Medium roast coffee is an ideal candidate for at home brewing for this reason.
Brewing Method
Like grind size, medium roast will give the home brewer a lot of flexibility in options for brew method. It’s important to line up your coffee grind and brew methods to get the flavors you want out of your coffee, and minimizing any bitter flavor development. It’s worth pointing out that there isn’t a “best” brewing method for medium roast coffee. Use a coffee brew method you like, have or want to have and go from there.
Temperature Matters
Another interesting factor to consider is heat of the water used when brewing. 195–205 °F/90–96°C is the standard range for brewing coffee products. Medium heat, for brewing medium roast coffee works best, but as long as you or the machine your using stays in this temperature range, your end product should be good to go! Happy Brewing!
