A term used for supernatural appearances. An apparition of a person or thing is an immaterial appearance that seems real, and is generally sudden or startling in it’s manifestation.

The Greenbriar Ghost
Popular Ghost Lore
The Greenbrier Ghost is among the more popular stories of an apparition. Ending with a guilty verdict, the murder trial took place in Greenbrier West Virgina. The Greenbrier Ghost is the name popularly given to the ghost of the young woman, Elva Zona Heaster, who was murdered in 1897. Initially ruled death by natural causes, the court later ruled that she had been murdered by her husband. Testimony by the victim's mother, recounted that her daughter's spirit revealed the true cause of death. To read more about this apparition story click here.
